Service Description

A creative textiles course to discover the enlivening power of madder, an ancient dye used to achieve glorious reds, roses, oranges, and violets, like a flaming sunset sky. Inspired by the stark beauty of dark trees against winter sunsets, you will be guided by Michelle in preparing natural fabrics and dyeing them with madder root and modifiers. These glowing fabrics will then be used to create an exciting collage piece, including expert guidance in the hand-painting of trees on to your dyed fabric with ink, and then selecting and hand-stitching your collage piece in layers of colour, fascinating stich and interwoven tree branches. No experience needed in natural dyeing, painting or stitch. All materials provided.
